Union 3-in-1 Convertible Crib Review – How Good Is this 3-in-1 Crib?

My husband and I got the Union 3-in-1 convertible crib as a gift and our baby girl has been sleeping in it since she was born. I realize how difficult it is to choose this essential piece of nursery furniture, especially when you plan to use it for years to come. That is why I will use my experience with this 3-in-1 crib to review it. Let’s get down to business.

Design and Make

There’s nothing fancy about this Union model and this is what I like about it. The 3-in-1 crib’s original size is 53.5 by 30.5 by 33.5 inches which is standard, as far as I know. We’ve tried a variety of mattresses and they all fit.

I find the slats to be sufficiently big and the room between them to be optimal. It’s impossible for my toddler’s arm or leg to get stuck between them. I also like the visibility which they allow for. I can keep a watchful eye on my youngster from every corner of the nursery.

The crib is made of sustainable pine wood from New Zealand. In my experience, the 3-in-1 crib has incredibly strong construction. I can’t imagine the slats getting cracked, let alone breaking. Speaking of the legs, they don’t seem very big, but they are reliable and sturdy, and this is what matters the most. I can assure you that even the most vigorous toddler won’t be able to cause damage to this crib. Mine has tried to multiple times, but it’s still standing strong.

Is It Safe?

It’s impossible for a baby or a toddler to get entrapped between the slats, as I’ve already explained. They are 2.25 inches apart. The paint is also safe. It’s non-toxic and free of lead and phthalate. You don’t have to worry even if your baby tries to bite the slats like my daughter did when she was teething. It may go without saying, but there is virtually no way the child can climb out, provided that the level at which the mattress is set is sufficiently low. In general, this Union 3-in-1 crib meets local and international safety standards, and more specifically CPSC and ASTM.

Is It Practical?

For me, it is. There are four mattress levels which are easy to adjust. By now, we’ve use all four of them and at every one the baby is safe and easy to pick up. It’s worth pointing out that it isn’t difficult to switch between the levels.

I view this Union baby crib as a long-term investment because it converts into a day bed and a toddler bed, meaning you can use it for years to come. It’s true that you have to buy a separate conversion kit to turn the crib into a toddler bed, but I think it’s wort it. This is the case for me and my family.

How about Assembly and Conversion?

This 3-in-1 crib was pretty easy to assemble. The instructions are clear and so are the diagrams. You don’t need special tools to get the work done properly. Both my husband and I aren’t into DIY, but we did a great job with the assembly and in a very short time too. Then we just placed the sensor pad of the Angelcare baby monitor and the mattress. The conversion is also straightforward.

Any Disadvantages?

I wish the conversion kit for the toddler bed was included in the package. This would have made it a lot easier for us. Still, this isn’t a big problem.

The Verdict

To sum it up, the Union 3-in-1 crib is safe, strong, durable and, above all, practical. I’m happy that I’ve got it. Access more information and reviews on Amazon.
